Neighborhood Stabilization Overlay District

The Neighborhood Stabilization Overlay District initiative is instrumental in implementing many points in the comprehensive plan as it relates to design standards in the downtown residential neighborhood.

We have sent a complete packet proposal to City Administrator, Shelby Tuefel and Council Woman Pat Niner on March 20, 2024 for review.

The packet included a map of the district and proposed ordinance.

Develop Annual Trail and Bike Events

Part of maximizing the benefit of being a trail town is to develop the tourism industry.

Biking events bring much needed economic boosts to the community and grow when held annually.

These plans are in the initial phases of development.

Vacant Building Registry

This project is intended to inventory vacant commercial buildings in Pleasant Hill, with an initial focus on the Downtown District.

Buildings that are not used for purposes that are acceptable businesses in the particular zone as defined in the zoning codes can be considered vacant. The program works with owners to develop a safety plan for first responders, insurance requirements, inspection requirements, and a plan to converting the vacant building to a business that contributes to the economic growth of the district.

There is a financial impact for building owners whose properties are vacant, through the building registry.

Presented to Council on June 12, 2023. Council and Mayor have taken no action.

Initial program has been developed. City Staff and Council have reviewed the plans. Mayor has held a town hall meeting on the topic. No further details are available from the City..

Welcome Center in Train Depot

We have a plan to utilize the Train Depot as the catalyst to jump start economic development in the downtown district. It is our hope to create a welcome center that is the foundation for the development of the tourism industry downtown.

Pleasant Hill is the trailhead for the Katy Trail Spur. We want to maximize the benefits of that designation.
